Watermelon Earrings 🍉
Production Times
Ready to ship items will usually be sent out within 3-5 business days. Friday is typically the day that I package everything up and ship them out.
In stock Ceramic items are ready to ship UNLESS the title says "PRE-ORDER". Count on pre-order ceramics to take up to 4-8 weeks as I need to run a full kiln load and while I'm typically always working on filling up the kiln, ceramics still require quite a bit of time including drying time, 2 kiln firings as well as waiting for the kiln to cool, and glazing time.
Made to order Fiber Art items and Journals typically take between 1-2 weeks to create, depending on my current workload. Some items are a little more time consuming and/or finicky to get right and those items will likely take longer.
If you need something quickly just send me a message, preferably before placing your order. Sometimes I am able to accommodate last minute custom orders and sometimes things are crazy around here! Just contact me and I will do my absolute best to accommodate you.
Adorable hand painted watermelon earrings! I hand form and hand paint these with 3 layers of each color and then glaze them with a clear glossy glaze. I make all my jewelry with either hypoallergenic niobium or stainless steel ear hooks/studs. As someone with sensitive ears, I'm always mindful of the struggle for earrings that won't irritate allergic or sensitive ears. The best part is, they also will not tarnish!
The small pairs measure about 1-3/4" high from the top the earring hook and the medium pairs measure about 2-1/4" high from the top the earring hook.
Ceramic earrings are pretty sturdy since they're fired in a kiln at 2232°F (1220°C)! I've had mine fall without breaking. They are also waterproof!
Watermelons became a symbol of solidarity with Palestine after the 6 day war back in 1967 when Israel banned all displays of the Palestinian flag 🇵🇸 Since watermelons contain the same colors of the flag (and of course because many people enjoy this delicious fruit!) it became a subtle way of subverting the flag ban. Since I was a teenager, Palestine has held a special place in both my heart and my father's as he was the one who educated me on their history and oppression. I made these to show my solidarity with Palestinians and for each pair of watermelon earrings sold, I'm donating 20% of the proceeds to UNRWA, an organization that my father regularly made donations to.
